Route: From La Misión, head south on the free road (Mex 1) or toll road toward Ensenada for a few kilometers, then turn inland at the Highway 3 / Ruta del Vino junction. Follow Highway 3 east into the valley. We are at km 70. Short, easy drive — mostly paved highway.

La Misión is the closest coastal town to Valle de Guadalupe. You're literally one ridge away from wine country and the best off-road terrain in Baja. Most visitors to the area don't realize that the trails behind the vineyards are accessible to anyone willing to gear up and learn.

The drive from La Misión into the valley is one of the prettiest short drives in Baja. You start at sea level with ocean air, climb through coastal hills, and drop into a wide valley filled with vineyards, olive trees, and open sky. The landscape changes completely in 20 minutes.

The Perfect La Misión Day

You're so close that a morning ride barely cuts into your beach day. Here's a sample schedule:

8:00 AM — Leave La Misión, drive inland on Highway 3

8:25 AM — Arrive at base, gear up, start training

9:00 AM – 12:00 PM — Half-day ride through canyons and ridgelines

12:30 PM — Lunch at a Valle winery or head back to the coast

1:00 PM — Back at La Misión with the whole afternoon on the beach

Morning on a dirt bike, afternoon in the surf. That's a hard day to beat. Full-day rides are available too if you want to go deeper into the mountains and stay for a Valle lunch.

Beyond the Beach

La Misión is known for its surf break, quiet beaches, and the kind of slow pace that makes people never want to leave. But the mountains behind you are hiding some of the best off-road terrain on the peninsula — and nobody on the beach is talking about it.

Our trails take you through the Sierra foothills east of the valley. Rocky single-track, canyon descents, ridgelines with views that stretch from the valley floor to the Pacific. On a clear morning you can see the ocean you drove away from — except now you're 400 meters above it, standing next to a KTM on a ridgeline.

The contrast is the experience. Sand to rock. Salt air to chaparral. Flat beach to vertical terrain. That 25-minute drive separates two completely different worlds, and you get both in one day.

The Baja Weekend Combo

La Misión sits perfectly between the coast and wine country. If you're down for the weekend, here's the play:

Friday: Drive down from San Diego or Tijuana, settle in at La Misión. Sunset on the beach, fish tacos at one of the roadside spots.

Saturday morning: Dirt bike ride in Valle de Guadalupe. Half or full day — your call. Lunch at a Valle winery after the ride.

Saturday afternoon: Back to La Misión for surf, or stay in the valley for wine tasting.

Sunday: Slow morning, drive home. Ocean, mountains, vineyards, world-class food — all within 25 minutes of each other. That's the Baja triangle, and La Misión is at its center.

The transition from coastal lowland to Valle de Guadalupe is dramatic. Within 25 minutes you climb from sea level to 350 meters through chaparral-covered hills and granite canyon systems. The trails run through private ranch land with hard-packed dirt, loose rock sections, and ridgeline views that look back toward the Pacific. It is a completely different landscape from the beach you just left.
